Kristen Beveridge - Artist

My work explores the wildness and power of nature, and man's endless desire to control it. We attempt to impose structure, but nature is something we will never be able to bend or tame as it is outside of our control.

I began painting in Encaustic (beeswax and pigment) in 2007 while pregnant with my first son, Caius. The prospect of becoming a mother inspired me to create, and so my journey began.

Passionate about art and design since a young child, I had always been a dabbler in many things. I studied writing, cultural studies, and architecture at Carnegie Mellon, and then pursued my Masters in Design Studies at the Harvard Design School. My career has been spent in the digital startup world leading interdisciplinary design teams in large scale branding, user experience, and design thinking initiatives for some of the worlds most successful online companies.

However, nothing brings me joy like making art.

I have had a number of shows in both New Jersey and New York, in 2012, 2015, and 2017, and have worked on a number of commissions over the past few years.

My paintings dovetail with my explorations in culture, theology, and philosophy. As a seeker of knowledge, truth, and spiritual wisdom, this exercise allows me consider  the vast and yet small universe in which we exist - the miracle that it is.
